Unveiling the Exhibition

This Viewshare-driven project enables users to dynamically explore 422 historical map assets relating the British Isles for the first time using semantic categories developed based on the legacy metadata records. This 2015 adaption of the British Library's 1999 exhibition "The Unveiling of Britain," (for BL-Labs 2015) allows users to quickly and easily explore the collection as an image gallery, GIS map or timeline, and filter the assets based on date, country, creator, materials used, technique and extent of view (Local, City, County, Region or International).

The site's underlying software platform, "Authorial {X}," will be made available soon, permitting creation of similar sites for other locales.
